Preventative Services and Advice

We are focused on preventative animal health, seeking to identify and solve problems as early as possible.

Mastitis - advice for solving cell count, mastitis and grading problems, including in-house culturing of mastitis samples.

Trace Elements - blood testing, liver sampling, pasture and feed testing are available. Our Dairy Mineral Management Programme provides a full series of pasture, blood and liver tests precalving, colostrum cows, premating, and autumn.

Facial Eczema - weekly spore counts are taken from 10 sites throughout our practice to give you an idea of the risk of facial eczema. These results will be available on this website. We are also able to do spore counts on samples from your own farm. Results are available the day you bring the sample in.

Vaccination Programmes –We have a very high lepto vaccination rate amongst our clients. We also offer anthelmintic injections at the same time as calf vaccinations. Our in-house monitoring systems keeps track of vaccination requirements and calls are arranged to suit you.

Lameness – Prevention is always better than cure with lameness. We can look at the whole picture to identify problem areas and advise on possible improvements.

Medicine and Surgery

We provide a comprehensive veterinary service to individual animals – including sickness, lameness, calvings and metabolic problems. Surgical care such as fracture repair, gut surgery, caesarians, lump removal and teat stitching. We have competitive fees with no after hours charge.

Reproduction Management

We can arrange programmes to suit your needs ranging from synchronising of heifers and cows to solving non-cycling and fertility problems. We can analyse your reproductive data and identify problem areas.

Whole Herd Pregnancy Testing - either ultrasound or manually. We also provide planks and supports for herringbone sheds and rotary sheds can often be done during milking time.

We provide ultrasound pregnancy testing for alpaca, deer and goats.

Bull Soundness Examinations are also available.

Rearing Programs for Young Stock

We can help set up programmes that minimise infectious diseases, parasitism and mineral deficiencies. We have scales available for hire, to monitor weight gains and we can advise you on target weights and help you achieve them.

Educational Work

A highly regarded quarterly newsletter is available to all clients. Monthly Dairy Updates are sent to all dairy clients. We run a full day workshop for new dairy staff every spring, and other seminars and workshops are organised as suitable topics arise. See NEWSLETTER section of this website.

Intelact

Intelact is a comprehensive nutritional and farm advisory service. A range of services are offered from balancing the nutrient requirements for your herd to farm planning and intensive advisory service to maximise your farm’s performance. Chris Pyke is our Intelact consultant and is able to answer any queries.

Soil Testing and Fertility Advice

Independent soil testing and fertiliser advice is available focusing on both animal health and pasture requirements.

Lifestyle Blocks

We recognise the increasing number of clients from lifestyle blocks and are able to offer an informative and friendly service for you. We produce educational magazines and are also able to decant off small amounts of animal remedies to suit your needs. See NEWSLETTER section of this website.

Deer

We can help with all facets of your deer farming operations. Chris Crickett has over 20 years experience in servicing deer farms of all sizes. We provide routine services such as TB testing, ultrasound scanning and develvetting, and can assist in reproductive programmes and support for AI and ET programmes.

We stock a comprehensive range of quality animal health products and equipment. All our staff give unbiased advice on choice and effectiveness of products. Alan Bremner can handle all queries regarding purchasing and delivery of bulk items such as bloat remedies, magnesium, zinc, worm treatments etc.
